Common Yarrow is an easy-to-grow perennial herb with white flower clusters rising up to 2’ on fernlike foliage above an initial rosette. Liable to form small colonies, it spreads underground and by seed. Useful as a fresh or dried cut-flower and medicinal herb, it also supports a wide range of pollinators and can serve many positive functions in landscapes and gardens.

Achillea millefolium is one of those plants that forces us to ask, “what is a native plant, really?” The taxonomy of varieties or subspecies is up for debate. Its range is vast across Asia, Europe, and North America. It easily hybridizes. All this to say, its status as a native of eastern North America is at best up for debate. And its resistance to dogmatic interpretation - in addition to all of the above - is why we like it.
