Prairie Brome is an attractive cool-season grass used in prairie restoration and erosion control. Its most distinguishing feature is its pendulous seedhead, similar to Northern Sea Oats. The plant has blue green foliage and stems that dry to a nice tan color in the winter. It is a short-lived perennial that may self seed around a bit but plays nice in garden settings. The seeds provide food for birds and mammals.
