Purple Lovegrass brings a reddish, airy texture to gardens and landscapes. It is not a tall grass, only reaching about 2' in flower, so is perfect for adding movement and visual interest to borders and edges, and grows well in containers as well. Despite its short stature, it is naturally found in dry, open meadows and fields under competitive conditions.

It grows during the warm season, and seems happy in very poor soils or more average garden soils alike. Because it's seed heads are so airy, it is best used in masses. It forms dense clumps and can spread by seed.
