Fragaria virginiana, commonly known as Wild Strawberry, is one of our most popular items - an edible, easy-to-grow native groundcover with delicate flowers in early spring and colorful fall foliage. It looks lovely in garden borders and containers, but because of its toughness it can also drape gracefully over and throughout shaded rock walls. Its fruit are small but delicious, but good luck getting to them before the birds do. It can spread via stolons if allowed, but not overly aggressively.
