Hypericum prolificum, commonly known as shrubby St. John's Wort, is a hardy deciduous shrub known for its prolific yellow flowers, its naturally mounding shape, and its hardiness and adaptability. Deer leave it alone but it is an absolute pollinator magnet and larval host plant for several butterfly and moth species. This low-maintenance plant thrives in full partial sun alike, and in many soil types. The lower parts of the plant grow woody, and it is appropriate for making hedges.

Despite its tough nature, this species is considered threatened in New York.
