Hypericum pyramidatum, or Great St. John's Wort, is a striking herbaceous perennial that puts out long stems of yellow flowers year after year, even though the plant dies all the way back to the ground in winter. This hardy perennial thrives in moist, well-drained soil and full or partial sun. It performs well in average garden soils and makes a useful cut-flower in the flowering or seed stages.
