Muhlenbergia capillaris, commonly known as Pink Muhly Grass, is one of our most striking ornamental grasses - a favorite of landscape installers and cut-flower growers alike.

It forms as a clump of erect, blue-green stems and sends up shocks of reddish pink flowering stems in the fall. Seed heads are light and airy and bring a soft pink haze to the landscape when massed together. Hardy and drought-tolerant once established, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance landscapes and gardens, highway medians, and meadows, and it makes an excellent late-season cut-flower. Unpalatable to deer and other mammals.
