Persicaria virginiana, commonly known as Jumpseed, is a woodland native with some of the most interesting, if diminutive, flowering stems. Its attractive, low-growing foliage gives it great potential as a groundcover. This species prefers a good deal of shade, as we only see it situated in well-draining woodland edges.
