Driving around the Northeast in the early Fall, you may notice a red haze over hay fields and along roadsides. What you're seeing are the airy, red tinged seed heads of Tridens flavus, standing tall above short, tidy clumps of foliage. T. flavus is one of the most airy seed heads we know. Commonly used for restoration and roadside plantings, it also works nicely in cut-flower arrangements and massed in garden plantings.
